Why Should Boomers take MultiVitamin/Mineral Supplements? We’re Getting (gagg) Older!

Hey Boomers! We’re now considered “older.” Can you believe it? Seems like just yesterday we were . . . 20, 30, 40, or was it 50? Hmmm, memory fades with age.

.

But That Was Then

Today I’m writing about nutritional needs for our ageing bodies. Younger generations could benefit from this information too. After all if you start young and maintain a healthy regimen, good habits alone will carry you for decades.

So check this out. There was a clinical study recently that observed Baby Boomers and older adults who had been given either a multivitamin or a placebo, daily, for a total of eight weeks.

.

Placebo Please1

Will the Real Multi-Vitamin Please Stand Up . . .

.

The study was geared to determine the effects of multivitamins on the nutritional status of older adults. Baby Boomers come to mind, because I am one.

Many boomers feel that if we “eat right” we don’t really need to add the expense of a multivitamin or mineral to our diets. Been there, heard that.

.

An Apple a Day

I had the “Apple a Day . . .” debate with my very good, very skeptical friend last week. We debate a lot.

He has issues with network marketing companies, so every chance he gets he will corner me about my products.

During our conversation he mentioned several times how he felt too exhausted after work to study for exams, etc.

.

Chillin

.

Usually when I hear certain words it triggers memories, so when he said the word exhausted, I thought of the benefits of the multivitamin that I market and sell. Naturally I mentioned it.

It’s like he was baiting the trap for me to mention my product.

.

He Leaped

His premise was, “That’s what I’m talking about. I knew you were going to bring up your vitamin, but it’s like this. If at every meal, I eat a balanced diet of fruits, grains, vegetables, lean beef, and fish etc., I don’t need to spend my hard earned cash on your vitamin. I can grow my own vegetables, catch the fish myself, and so on.” His conversation was peppered with statistics and words like essential nutrients, folic acid, etc.

.

Fruits and Veggies

.

He then leaned back in his chair, assured of a verbal victory. I was grinning, because he was absolutely right! It’s possible to eat the correct amount of nutritional sustenance, but man!, is it time consuming. And secondly, yes, I did bring up my vitamin.

.

For a great multivitamin that I get paid to promote, but would promote even if I did not sell it, that also has an available program to help pay for itself, click on my affiliate link  here.

GBG . . . “Nuff Said.”

“Hello again, and welcome back.”

.

GBG

.

(Guided By God)

Apologies up front if this article comes off “salesy,” (is that a word?). But here we go. I’m going to put it out there.

As you know by now, I am an internet network marketing Baby Boomer. My company of choice is GBG. The name derives from, “Guided by God.”

We don’t hype it, but that’s where the name comes from, and our founder, Stuart Finger, is sincere about his conviction. The reason I’m telling it now is because I have been asked often recently, “What do the letters GBG mean?”

Most in our community haven’t heard of GBG, but that’s going to change, with a quickness. I am so proud of my friends and family who have taken charge of the ‘direction’ of their health. If I used such terminology, I’d say, “Kudos,” but I don’t.

:

Momma's Hands Apple

:

Boomers are becoming more aware everyday when it comes to our health. Due to that awareness we are getting our diets in check, exercising more, getting good rest and investigating healthy alternatives, and that is where GBG shines.

.

GBG is Not New to Network Marketing

.

The company has been around for about fourteen years, and Stuart Finger, the CEO, has proven himself a man of his word when it comes to building a network marketing company with the reps in mind.

He’s built GBG with passion, patience, perseverance and vitality. From day one.

I’m sure some of you are saying , “Yeah CK, I’ve heard it all before.” But, I say, while inserting a message, “Don’t mix apples and donuts.” Don’t compare GBG to any other network marketing company you’ve had the displeasure of working your butt off for.

If you haven’t heard about this company and founder, you might want to investigate.

.

Jackee 227

.

Why do you think the beautiful Ms. Jackee Harry joined our company recently. She met with Stuart, saw his vision, (had already tried the product and gotten great results) and became our National Celebrity Spokesperson.

How often do we networkers go to meetings, conferences or listen to calls hosted by the “sincere, emotional, driven, believer of all things related to his or her company?” Only to find out in a short while that most of what they are selling is crap.

The last meeting I went to, the overly excited guy on stage kept yelling, “Don’t miss this boat!” Must have said it a hundred times.

.

Well, that’s not GBG

.

I was the biggest skeptic when introduced to GBG by my good friend and associate, Sergio Rozzelle. Matter of fact, I want to pause and say, “Thank you man for insisting I take a look at this company, you’re a true friend. Don’t sweat the skeptics.” But thank goodness you were persistent. I owe you big time my brother. We’ve got this.

.

GBG’s Direction

.

Stuart Finger has masterfully guided his company through much turbulence and he did it with integrity, honesty and a tunnel vision most of us can only dream about.

Yeah, maybe I sound like some of those guys I mentioned above, but I can prove what I say.

.

Stuart Finger provides leadership

.

GBG is a real network marketing company, run by a real network marketer, who is in the trenches with the rest of us. He makes his living doing what we do, selling GBG products, in addition to running his company. How cool is that?

A great company does not take advantage of its reps; it provides great leadership, products, training and compensation.

GBG, through Stuart Finger, does that in spades.

  • Q. Is GBG a Pyramid Scheme?

  • A. No. We have products. Some, certified by the Glycemic Index.
  • Q. Are we required to purchase inferior products that get shoved to the back of the closet?
  • A. No. We buy one bottle of GBG’s Ten in One™ Liquid Multi Formula for $29.95 plus shipping.

With that purchase we receive:

  1. A Free Business.
  2. A Free Website.
  3. Free Landing Pages.

“But I don’t want to run a business CK.”

You don’t have to work the business in order to enjoy the benefits of the products. I just happened to (after decades of searching) find my passion, in advocating better health for boomers. Now I have a good product to assist me in that cause. I’m done searching! Man, I can’t express to you how good this feels.

Hah! I just this second realized something. I had to wait to become a boomer, to get passionate about helping boomers. How ’bout it!

But I digress.

No. We don’t have to work the business, but it’s there for the taking. And if you know 6 people who need supplements and they sign with you, the cost of your monthly bottle of GBG’s 10 In One™ Liquid Multi Formula is covered.

Do I chase friends and family members down and figuratively beat them over the head with our great products until they give up and buy in to the plan? No, because that’s not the way I’m building my business, but that’s another article. If you want to know how I am building my business, email me at Charles@CreateVitality.Com

Here’s a tip:

If you are considering network marketing, don’t go for the hype and join the wrong company, with wrong training, wrong product, wrong leadership . . . should I go on?

At least do yourself the favor of clicking on my affiliate link to, give GBG a good look.

This just might be the boat we didn’t miss. Thanks for reading. Got a little long-winded.

“Welcome Ms. Jackée Harry, to GBG”

Hey all my Reader Friends, How about this?

On April 2, 2010, GBG,  my network marketing company of choice, proudly announced, the addition of Ms. Jackée Harry, Star of  television sitcoms, film and theatre, as the new National Spokeswoman for GBG.

.

“Say What!” Jackee

.

That’s right, I said it.

.

On her website, Ms. Harry states she had already decided it was time to take better care of herself health-wise. “That’s why, when a loved one approached me some time ago, with a liquid vitamin called 10-in-One (by GBG), not only was I in need of such a product…I was actually in search of one. Every single person on the planet, no matter who you are, should be consuming nutrients of the highest quality, DAILY! And if you ask me, GBG’s 10-in-One provides those much needed vitamins and nutrients.”

.

Ms. Harry has starred in a number of TV shows like 227,  Jackee 227 Another World, The Women of Brewster Place, Everybody Hates Chris, etc., but has never endorsed a product such as ours.

GBG, a renowned health and wellness company, shares its owner’s vision with all of its representatives, now including Ms. Harry.

As the new GBG national spokeswoman, Ms. Harry shares in the vision of GBG’s founder Stuart Finger. He will readily share, with anyone who will listen, his passion for helping others around the globe, live their best and healthiest of lives.

Ms. Harry, who won an Emmy for her role as Sandra Clark on the hit TV series, 227, has teamed up with GBG, to promote improved health and wealth across America.

GBG LOGO

Something I seldom say because it is so overused in network marketing is, “I’m excited.”

She is not only a great spokeswoman with a reputation of integrity, she is passionate about our product, GBG’s Ten In One™ Liquid Multi Formula.

Jackée says on her website, “it truly is the most amazing product I’ve ever consumed! Not to mention, it’s pleasant tasting and entersyour system in around 3 minutes following consumption.

.

super foods

.

I find that it even curtails my cravings for unhealthy foods, which has allowed me to manage my weight, while providing me with previously untapped energy.”

Having been a fan of Jackée Harry for many years, I find it difficult to imagine her without an abundance of energy. She always seems so full of life, when we are fortunate enough to catch her performances, live or on screen.

She goes on to say on her site, “In fact, I love the product (GBG’s Liquid Multi Formula) so much, I decided to align with the company, in

an effort to get the word out about what I feel is truly a super formula. No false claims. No gimmicks. No gotchas. I have NEVER been in the business of endorsing anything I don’t believe in.”

.

gbg flyer

.

But now she is endorsing our company, GBG, and our main product, a liquid multi formula supplement that contains 10 separate formulas.

So I say loudly, “Welcome, Ms. Harry, to GBG and thank you for recognizing the value of our products. “How Bout it!”

GBG Ten-In-One™ Liquid Multi-Formula is The Right Stuff

Hey there, here’s a Network Marketing No-No. “My product is good for you.” But I’m not supposed to say that right away. It’s too Salesy…too up front.

I am a Blogger; an Internet Marketer and yes, I am opinionated. I’m not at all comfortable with high pressure sales techniques. When people come to me using “techniques,” I cringe.

I write about enhancing our health naturally; specifically by maintaining a healthy (for you) diet, adding natural supplements, getting sufficient exercise and rest. Those are the basics. So easy to do, it’s easy not to do.

But today, I am writing about Doing The Right Thing in Internet Marketing. Personally I find it quite difficult to do the “right thing.”

What’s the Right Thing?

According to many ‘Gurus’ we marketers must strive to:

  • Reel the reader (prospect) in slowly
  • Don’t answer their questions right away about what we’re selling
  • Inundate the reader with “free” information in order to entice them to opt-in

Once they opt-in, give them even more ‘free’ information while attaching our ‘offer’ on the back end; kind of like lulling them in.

I don’t have a clue why online marketing and sales has to be this way. At this stage of my life I don’t enjoy being “reeled in” and I enjoy even less holding the rod and doing the reeling.

Why can’t we just be truthful?

My ex-mentor informed me that it is a numbers game; that we must continually “reel in many fish to get to the keepers.” He says I will regret being up front about the facts and the cost. That is why he is my ‘ex’ mentor.

I will admit, he’s been half-right. Some people have taken advantage of my good nature. But I would choose not to establish a relationship with them anyway, and we parted ways.

My thinking is the opposite; Be honest. Tell me what you are selling, and what it costs; let me make my own decision after I review the facts. If I want “in” I’ll bite. If not, I won’t waste your time or mine. What a concept!

My articles offer great information concerning improving health naturally, but I will sometimes let you know about credible products that I sell as well.

Why? Because they work! At least they worked for me.

Case in Point:

Would you like to feel better than you thought possible and improve your health along the way, all at no financial risk? Sounds like hype right?

Sounded like hype to me too, because I’m a huge skeptic, but I’m glad I gave it a shot, because people comment often about how much energy I have. I can’t help but smile and say, “Yeah, you’re right.”

Want to know my ‘Secret.’

It’s simple, I take one capful of GBG Ten-In-One™ Liquid Multi-Formula every day.

I’ve been an affiliate of GBG, and had my first sip of GBG Ten-In-One™ Liquid Multi-Vitamin in April of 2008.

Taking the vitamin is so easy and convenient, (drink just one cap-full a day) that I have not missed taking my vitamin more than a total of ten days since then. And when I missed a day, I thought about it at least five times that same day, just got lazy or something.

l guarantee you when I was taking the tablet-form of vitamin, I was not as consistent. The consistency alone has to contribute to my feeling better than I have in years. And the added benefit of losing pounds doesn’t hurt either.

I weighed 260 pounds when I took my first drink; Within 90 days I lost 25 pounds; The weight has not come back many months later. That’s my story.

So give it a shot

Here’s my affiliate link. I’m sure if you try GBG Ten-In-One™ Liquid Multi-Vitamin, you will feel a difference. But like pitchman Billy Mays might have said, ”But wait, there’s more, here’s the best part …”

I mentioned earlier that you would have no financial risk.

If you don’t feel that GBG Ten-In-One™ Liquid Multi-Vitamin has been beneficial to your health, you have 60 days to return the empty bottle for a refund of $29.95. What can you lose, with the exception of maybe a few pounds . . .?

Stroke Sufferers there’s a New Wrinkle with Botox; And its Looking Good!

I read some exciting information in a New York Times Health Feed written by Donald G. McNeil Jr. It published in GoUpState.Com on Tuesday, March 17, and was titled:

‘After a Stroke, Freeing Muscles with Botox’

The heart of the matter is Botulinum toxin; known best by the brand names:

  • Botox – manufactured by Allergan
  • Myobloc – manufactured by Solstice Neurosciences
  • Xeomin – manufactured by Merz Pharmaceuticals

Botulinum toxin has far more medical uses than smoothing out a few wrinkles, but some uses are unofficial and not yet approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration).

Here’s The Good News

Botulinum toxin has not been approved for use by stroke victims, but has been proven so effective that Medicare and other insurers under certain circumstances will consider reimbursement for its use.

Most stroke victims have never heard of the treatment from their neurologist or primary care doctors, because those physicians often are not aware of the benefits of the treatments.

It’s Up To You To Inform Your Doctor

Even if they have heard of the treatment, many doctors are not trained to administer the deeper injections that are required; the procedure is a bit more involved than procedures dermatologists perform, to erase wrinkles.

According to Mr. McNeil’s article, “most neurologists are in the habit of prescribing anti-spasticity drugs like tizanidine and baclofen, which are oral and inexpensive, but which cause drowsiness and weaken every muscle in the body, not just the target ones.”

Therefore, according to Dr. David M. Simpson, Clinical Neurophysiology Director at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, a leading Botulinum toxin researcher, 95 percent of the stroke victims who could benefit, never receive the injections.

Botulinum toxin is not a miracle drug and will not heal every problem caused by stroke, but it is worth a look.

See what Donald G. McNeil Jr. has to say here in his excellent article concerning Ms. Francine V. Corso, a software engineer who has to go out of her way to receive regular treatment but claims, “I’m completely transformed — I drive, I volunteer, I take art classes.”

How great is that!

As always, there’s one caveat. Be sure to find the right neurologist. Dr. Mark Hallett of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, says he uses ultrasound and electromyography when treating patients.

When an uninformed physician performs the necessary injections, close isn’t good enough.

March of Dimes Healthy Newborn Tips

The March of Dimes has issued a reminder of Five Common-Sense Health Tips for the arrival of a Healthier Baby.

Are you or do you know someone who is, may now be, or plans to be pregnant?

You can help yourself or someone else, by giving her gentle health reminders. She may be your daughter, grand daughter, friend, aunt, cousin or maybe even your mother. She’s someone you care about and want to have a healthy baby.

This is your opportunity to pass along sage advice. Most women, pregnant or not, know this already but gentle reminders along the way can do nothing but help the newborn baby.

The March of Dimes recommends that all Pregnant Women Should follow these five key steps:

  • First and foremost, get early and regular pre-natal care. It will reduce the risk of having a low birth-weight baby and ward off any undue surprises.
  • Eat nutritious foods, supplemented with vitamins if need be. Make sure that you and your baby get all the protein and nutrients you need through a proper diet.
  • Please Don’t Smoke! Women who smoke increase their chances of having a miscarriage or a low birth-weight baby.
  • Here’s a No-Brainer … Don’t take drugs! If not prescribed or approved by a doctor who is familiar with the pregnancy, the wrong drugs can cause severe disabilities, or worse, the death of your baby.
  • Don’t drink! Hard liquor, wine or even beer can cause birth defects. If you follow these five reminders, the chances of your bundle of joy arriving healthy increase dramatically.

Thanks for investing your time to read this article. Hope it gives you something to think about.

If I said something that helped you, click on the RSS icons and/or share it with others.

March is ‘Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month’

Colorectal Cancer, colon cancer for short, the third most commonly diagnosed cancer in the U.S., originates in the large intestine or rectum.

Early stage cancer can often be cured and regular testing should begin after the age of 50.

Check out the article at http://cdc.gov/cancer/colorectal/basic_info

There you will find Colorectal Cancer is the second leading cancer killer in the United States.

Colorectal Cancer:

  • affects men and women in all racial and ethnic
    groups
  • is most often found in people aged 50 years or
    older
  • is the third most common cancer after prostate
    and lung cancers in men
  • is the third most common cancer after breast and
    lung cancers in women

It Doesn’t Have To Be This Way

If all men and women aged 50 or older had regular Colorectal Cancer screening tests, as many as 60% of deaths from colorectal cancer could be prevented.

What Is Colorectal Cancer Screening?

According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), screening is when a test is used to look for a disease before there are any symptoms.

Cancer screening tests, including those for colorectal cancer, are effective when they can detect disease early.

Detecting disease early can lead to more effective treatment.

In some cases, screening tests can detect abnormalities such as polyps, (extra tissue that grows inside the large intestine and can potentially become cancerous) before they have a chance to turn into cancer. So removing polyps prevents colorectal cancer from developing.

I have had three Colonoscopy tests in the last 7 years. In my first test 3 non-cancerous polyps were found so I had to schedule another test within three years; in my second test 3 non-cancerous polyps were found again, thus another three year scheduled test.

In my last exam six months ago no polyps were found. I had actually resigned myself to the fact that 3 polyps were going to be there, lurking.

Hooray! Now I have five years before I have to schedule another test. It is well worth the effort in my opinion to be consistently tested.

Free or Low-Cost Colon Cancer Screening is Available

According to the CDC, if you live in one of the following locations…

Suffolk County, New York: Call (631) 444-7644

Baltimore, Maryland: Call (410) 767-1617 or 1 (866) 632-6566

King, Clallam, and Jefferson counties, Washington: Call 1 (800) 756-5437

Nebraska: Call 1 (800) 532-2227 or 1 (800) 833-7352 (TDD)

St. Louis, Missouri: Call (314) 879-6392

… you may be eligible for free or low-cost colorectal cancer screening through the CDC-funded screening demonstration program. To learn more contact the numbers above.

If you live elsewhere in the United States, please call 1 (800) 4-CANCER or 1 (800) ACS-2345 to learn more about screening options in your community. You may also be able to find information about free or low-cost screening by calling your local department of health.

If you have Medicare coverage, various tests may be covered. Go to http://medicare.gov/health/coloncancer.asp.

Hope this information helps. If it does pass it on to someone you care about who could use it.

Baby Boomers Should Join AARP … for the Health of it

Baby Boomers, when it comes to our health, some of us are suffering from an inflated ego.

If you have reached the qualifying age, I strongly recommend you a sign up for an AARP™ membership.

AARP sent applications for about five years before I was eligible and I took it as an insult. I remember thinking, “I’m not THAT old!” You know … the Boomer thing; 50 being the new 30, and so on.

One friend (you know who you are Coop) still refuses to join and he is 69 years old now. In his mind, he’s STILL not THAT old.

I strongly recommend we shelve our ego and sign up for  the membership. I’ve learned a lot from AARP and thoroughly support the cause.

For instance, the winter issue of ‘Strive For Healthy Living’ mentions that:

  • March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
  • April is Foot Health Awareness Month
  • May is National Arthritis Month

I for one had no clue until I read the articles. My next article will be an in-depth report on Colorectal Cancer, or Colon Cancer for short.

So, if you have not already looked into the benefits of joining AARP, give it a good going over. I think you’ll like what you see. It provides the best value for $12.50 that I’ve ever invested in.

Hope this information helps. If it does pass it on to someone you care about who could use it.

African-American Men More Likely To Get Prostate Cancer: Part 2

Did I Mention Early Screening is the Key?

Also in September 2004 there was a study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine. After interviewing over 67,000 men over the age of 65 it was determined that black men were 35% less likely than white men to be tested for PSA (prostate-specific antigen)

The fact is Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of death by cancer among men in the U.S. We black men are at a much higher risk of premature death caused by prostate cancer, so we are the group who should benefit the most from PSA screening.

There are myriad reasons why black men hesitate to get screened. We don’t have medical coverage insurance; we lack the personal finances to pay for tests; we don’t have or seek out the educational knowledge; medicaid is not always the answer because some of us do not qualify for assistance.

In 2004 the American Cancer Society estimated that nearly 30,000 men would die from the disease and that 230,000 cases of prostate cancer would be diagnosed. We are now five years down the road and the numbers are not much better.

Granted, the prostate cancer mortality rate for blacks has declined somewhat during the last ten years, but it is still more than double the rate for other races.

It has been noted that younger black men have begun to be diagnosed with the disease at a much earlier age, so the need for testing is even more of a necessity.

Maybe with the new administration in the White House the plight of the less fortunate will gain more attention.

Meanwhile there are clinics in most states that provide testing for free or for a nominal fee. I Googled ‘Free Prostate Cancer Screening’ and found Zero – The Project To End Prostate Cancer.

Check out this link. http://www.zerocancer.org/site/PageServer?pagename=drive_home.

I also found an excellent site today. This site caused me to go ahead and post this article. She provides a lot of good information and links to even more. http://www.a1prostatecancertips.com/

Hope this information helps.

African-American Men More Likely To Get Prostate Cancer

“Is It Because I’m Black?” “Unnh……Yes … and No.”

All too often I read headlines like, “African-American men are more likely to get prostate cancer.” And it is usually followed by something like, “They are also more likely to die from the disease due to lack of proper screening.”

So there we have it. Problem, or rather Challenge, and Solution.

I heard it on the news again this morning as I was mulling over what to write about. Just a blurb, two seconds, but it stuck in my mind this time.

Lately mental images and thoughts keep returning to this, or a variation: ‘CK, You need to be writing about health issues specific to our community.’

My mental argument has been, ‘but it’s very uncomfortable for me to write about it, and besides my brothers and sisters don’t want to hear this, so they won’t bother to read my articles’, etc. Just excuses. Any excuse to not follow my first mind.

Grandma always demanded I follow my first mind, so here goes. In her honor, I’m giving it a shot, beginning with this article which hits close to home.

My Brothers, We Need To Be Screened

Even though we are the most at-risk demographic, we black men are significantly less likely to undergo prostate cancer screening until it’s too late.  Too late to spare us the pain and suffering of advanced prostate cancer.

Most likely someone close to us, a spouse, or loved one, will mention that we need to be tested for some uncomfortable probability; it doesn’t even have to be as serious as cancer and we immediately say something like, “I’m ok. There’s nothing wrong. I know how I feel. If something was wrong I’d know it.”

Unless they are persistent the moment will pass and we’ll get on with our life. We know we should get tested, we think about it briefly, put it on the back-burner and move on, content with the knowledge that we will ‘get around to it.’

While writing this article, just now, I bounced it off my wife and she immediately leaped on the opportunity. “Yeah, YOU need to go get tested. You need to do it annually. That’s why they have testing honey. So when are you going to set the appointment?”

I kid you not. That’s the conversation that just went down. Whoa! That was a ‘can of worms’ best left unopened. I just got ‘test jacked’, followed up with ‘honey.’ Now I have to get tested, live the life I write.

I’ve lost friends and relatives to cancer and a few specifically to prostate cancer. In every case they were not diagnosed until the cancer had advanced.

Yet Another Study
